VCQ supports the Virginia Quilt Museum<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Located in Dayton, VA at the Silver Lake Mill, the Virginia Quilt Museum was founded in 1995. The museum has vast gallery space to exhibit all genres of quilts from historical to modern and everything in between. Programs and workshops are held throughout the year hosting lecturers, quilting classes and a Stash Blast where fabric is sold by the pound. Group tours, guided tours, and hands-on presentations are also available. The museum is open Tuesday – Saturday from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. The Virginia Quilt Museum is seeking new volunteers. Volunteers can help with any number of tasks but the most pressing needs are docents and gift shop help. Volunteer shifts are three hours and the museum asks that you commit to one shift a month. Fill out a volunteer application<\/a> today!  <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Hopes and Dreams Quilts for ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

VCQ participates in the Hopes and Dreams Challenge for ALS”.  The challenge year runs from August 1st and ends July 31st of the next year.  Minimum size is 45″ x 60″. All laps and bed quilts over the minimum size are welcome.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donated quilts are given to ALS patients or used to raise research money for ALS by being photographed, displayed, auctioned or raffled.\u00a0 In addition to contributing your quilt to a wonderful cause–ALL donated quilts are eligible to win exciting prizes.\u00a0Many quilt related groups participate.\u00a0 VCQ typically places within the top three donators to win prizes.\u00a0 The prizes are distributed during in-person meetings to help members make more quilts to donate. Donated Fabric and patterns are typically available to take home at the In-Person meetings. But they certainly like any quilt you choose to design and make. After you complete the donated quilt top, please don’t forget to put a label on your quilt (to include VCQ member, your name, city, state, month and year completed).\u00a0\u00a0Please print the form (link below).\u00a0 Complete the form, then attach to your quilt being turned in at the next In-Person meeting.
