Dear VCQ Members,
By now, you should have heard that VCQ is going virtual this year. We miss the connection of seeing everyone at our in-person retreats and look forward to having you join an online class, meeting or Come Quilt with Me soon. The board has chosen Zoom as the platform for us to meet. You can join Zoom with a smart phone, a tablet, a laptop or your landline, although the last option would be voice only. Zoom is not difficult and I know that every VCQ member will be able to take part in some way. But, to make you more comfortable with using Zoom, and familiar with how we will use Zoom, please come learn with us. We will offer training to all current members on Wednesday, August 5 at 3 PM through our contract with LiveOnlineQuiltClasses. There is no fee for you to join us and learn to use Zoom. If you are unable to attend at this time, we will post a link to a recording of the training on the Members Only section of the VCQ website.
Please read the Zoom Meetings Functions document before the training. It is in the Members Only section of the VCQ website. It may be helpful to you to print it and have it to review during the training.
If you are using a laptop, just click the link in the invitation on our Members Only page, and that will start the download and installation, or connect you to our Zoom meeting if you already have Zoom installed. If you are using a smart phone or tablet, please go to the application purchase store on your phone and get the free Zoom Cloud Meetings application downloaded on your device. Then use the invitation on our Members Only page to connect to the training on Wednesday. If you are on your voice-only phone, dial the phone number listed in the invitation on our Members Only page, then enter the provided Meeting ID and Passcode when prompted.
Even if you have used Zoom before, we encourage you to attend the training, so we can be sure everyone knows how to use the tools we plan to use in classes.
On Saturday, August 15 from 9 AM to Noon we will host a no fee Come Quilt With Me session for all members using Zoom. Use the same invitation on our Members Only page for that CQWM session. This will give us a chance to meet and sew from the comfort of our own sewing rooms, yet see and chat with VCQ friends. Additionally, the board members who have attended moderator training will be able to practice our new computer skills.

Members who have registered for the paid Saturday class with Darlene Price on August 8 will receive a separate invitation to that class.
