Another Method for Making Geese

(Ignore the clear rectangle on top - I just couldn't draw the unit without it)

Begin with a square whose measurement equals the length of your unfinished FG unit. For example, if you want a unit 4 1/2" x 2 1/2", cut a 4 1/2" square.  Now cut two squares that equal the short finished  measurement of your unit, plus 7/8". In the example, that would be 2" + 7/8"= 2 7/8".  Lay the squares in opposite corners. The small squares will be the sky, the large square will be the geese.
Draw a diagonal line from one corner to the other of the small squares. Sew a scant 1/4" on each side of this line and cut apart.
Finger press the triangles away from the geese unit. Lay another square in the center and once again, draw a line from corner to corner and sew a scant 1/4" on each side.  Cut apart again. Press triangles out and use a ruler to square the unit and trim off the ears.  The smaller your unit, the less accurate I have found it to be.  It is still more accurate than trying to sew tiny little triangles to each other.
